Language (Oral) Assessment using mobile phones

So for those of you that are interested, this is what i do for a living...

You can make it into a fun drinking game by doing a shot every time I say "eeeehhhhh"!

More about this on my business website.

paul's Gravatar Great idea & use of technology. Hopefully this will be one of the things that will help spoken Irish in Ireland.

Do you know if there are any plans to expand this to other languages?

regards,
paul

Gav's Gravatar Thanks Paul. At the moment we'll probably do a larger trial in Gaeilge in the next academic year in Ireland. We do have plans to do other languages in Australia, but not yet at home. Also there's some talk of using it to teach english as a foreign language.

Matthew's Gravatar Very good idea. It's definetely workable as the pilot proved. This is the sort of thing which needs to be expanded. Good choice of school. You should be confident and proud of the work.

Hopefully the expanded trial will have a school or two in Drogheda. The "Drawda" kids could do with a boost for oral Irish.

Wendy's Gravatar Wow, well done GC. You could be an assessment officer?!? - good to see you have grasped that side as well as the technical stuff. It really is impressive to see exactly how it works - you did well with the presentation, apart from that typo on slide 7 (just kidding!? - sorry couldn't resist). I'm keen to know how far along they are with it in Oz. All the best with it - you should feel really proud. Congrats.
